Why isn’t there an HH awareness month that actually gets national attention? Other conditions get massive campaigns—why not us?

We don’t have a billion-dollar pharmaceutical company backing us, that’s why.

If we want attention, we have to create it ourselves.

Then let’s make some noise! Who’s in?

If insurance covers gym memberships for diabetes, why doesn’t it cover sauna therapy for HH? Sweating helps lower iron too!

Because they don’t recognize non-drug treatments. It’s all about profits.

That’s what we need to push for! The data is there!

Why aren’t doctors talking about the link between HH and mental health? The anxiety, brain fog, and depression are real!

They gave me antidepressants instead of checking my iron. Turns out, it was just HH messing with my brain.

Same! Why isn’t iron screening the FIRST thing they check?

Anxiety was my first symptom. I didn’t connect it to iron until way later.

We NEED a public awareness campaign. Other conditions get TV ads, billboards, and social media attention—why not HH?

    • #78144

Because there’s no big drug company behind it. No money to be made = no awareness.

We need to create our OWN awareness. No one is coming to save us.

Agreed. Imagine if every HH patient submitted one article or shared one post.

Writing an article isn’t just about venting—it’s about pushing for REAL change. If we don’t speak up, nothing happens. Who’s working on theirs?

How many of us had doctors dismiss our symptoms for YEARS before finally checking iron? Drop the number of years you waited in the comments.

They tell us to donate blood for treatment, but many blood banks won’t take it. So… what are we supposed to do?!

If they won’t take it, insurance should cover phlebotomy. Period

Either they let us donate, or they create a better option. This system is broken.

Iron overload isn’t rare—undiagnosed HH is. If 1 in 200 people have it, that’s over 1.6 million in the U.S. alone! The fact that doctors STILL call this ‘rare’ is beyond frustrating. Who else was told HH is ‘not common enough’ for testing?

If it’s ‘too rare’ to test for, why do I keep meeting people with it?!

They screen newborns for diseases that affect only a few thousand people, but not HH? The math isn’t adding up.

Exactly! The numbers prove this should be standard screening.

If they don’t start testing, millions will keep suffering. It’s that simple.

I got feedback on my CBC W/Ferritin article! They suggested expanding on how much money early screening could save the healthcare system. I’m making edits now—who else is working on theirs?

Mine is on how a Full Iron Panel should be mandatory. It’s ridiculous that they don’t test it when it could prevent so many illnesses. Did you have yours edited?
